Chapter 1: From Scripture to School¶

[PLANNED] This chapter has not yet been written; what follows is a skeleton. The skeleton is laid out at full-treatment scale: the brief version walks only the trunk of each item, and a later expansion thickens the same outline without restructuring.

• The three translations of the Avatamsaka; the five patriarchs; Fazang as the systematizer.
• The five-teachings classification, set against the Tiantai eight; the distinct one-vehicle.
• Mutual annexation, third specimen; the grading axis to be tabled against Part 18 in chapter 7.
