Guide to This Part¶

[PLANNED] This chapter has not yet been written; what follows is a skeleton. The skeleton is laid out at full-treatment scale: the brief version walks only the trunk of each item, and a later expansion thickens the same outline without restructuring.

Expanded from Part 6 of the first division. Two lines converge here: the seed line from Part 17 (karma, memory, and liberation need a deeper basis than transformation of the continuum), and the synthesis line from Part 19 chapter 3 (the conventional level has been refitted with mind-only machinery and owes a full inspection). The governing question: can the machinery, seeds, storehouse consciousness, reflexive awareness, stay within nominal, conventional status? If yes, this is Buddhism's most complete science of the conventional; if any piece gets promoted to an intrinsically real basis, Part 18's machine goes off.

• Materials: the best-translated school in Chinese; Xuanzang's corpus plus Paramartha's older versions.
• Eight chapters: formation; the three natures; the storehouse; the eight consciousnesses; consciousness-only; the transformation of the basis; the emptiness-versus-existence dispute; verdict and handoff.
