Chapter 5: Self-Application and Immunity

[PLANNED] This chapter has not yet been written; what follows is a skeleton. Items may be added or removed, and the order may change.

What happens when the theorem is applied to itself: the emptiness of emptiness, formalized. This chapter is what keeps the strong version from collapsing.

  • Whether T falls within its own scope: by D3 it does not — T asserts no real entity and negates at the meta-level, purely.
  • The hierarchy clause stated formally; ultimate truth is not a D3-type claim, and emptiness is not a new entity.
  • The Vigrahavyāvartanī in full: no thesis, no fault; my words too arise dependently, empty yet effective — supported by the weak-rejection lemma of Chapter 3.
  • Modern controls: the semantic reading of VV 29 (Westerhoff); speaking of nonexistence without a thesis (Tillemans and Lopez).
